Writing Exercise - 6:15 pm 22 June 2014 Midnight. A couple sleeps side-by-side if only because of Skype. An ocean separates the two, but all is peaceful. Even the dog sleeps easily at the woman's feet. "Ryan!" the sudden cry of the woman shakes her partner awake. Another nightmare. The dog stirs and moves against the woman quietly. She strokes the dog's ears as the male on the other end wakes. "I'm right here, don't worry," comes his gentle whisper. It instantly soothes the woman's fears. Although she tells him about her dream, she fears it no more. She is comforted and calm just by her partner's presence, even if only over Skype. Sleep quickly returns to both.
